King, Kopenski take Richmond Vision to the Heart of the Middle East

University Trustee George King and Vice President and Dean of Enrollment Mark Kopenski were official guest of Mr. Sami Suleiman, Group General Manager of Spinneys Corporation and father of Rami Suleiman who is currently studying Business Administration at Richmond. Mr. King and Dean Kopenski were invited to the palace on two occasions to talk about Richmond University with His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan - Minister for Education and Scientific Research for the United Arab Emirates. The gentlemen discussed the future of education in the UAE and Richmond’s special role in educating young people from the region for nearly four decades. His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan weekly luncheon featured the official visit by Richmond University and was attended by dozens of top executives from multinational corporations working in the UAE. His Excellency also welcomed Mr. King and Mr. Kopenski to a private lunch at the palace giving the Richmond executives further opportunity to discuss plans for Richmond in the UAE.
In addition to visits with His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Mr. King hosted several business meetings in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai while Dean Kopenski visited with secondary students who will be attending Richmond in the fall. King and Kopenski also hosted dinners for education leaders in the area as well as an evening with Richmond Alumni who live and work in Abu Dhabi. Richmond currently draws around 15% of its students from the region and hopes to expand enrollment in the Middle East over the next three to five years.
