Trip to CASS Sculpture Park at Goodwood, MA Art History & Visual Culture

23/09/2011

MA AVC students and faculty with Gerry Judah's monumental painted steel sculpture, 'Alfa', 2010.

The MA Art History and Visual Culture Students visited the CASS sculpture park at Goodwood in West Sussex on Friday 16 September, lead by Drs Robert Wallis and Alex Seago: http://www.sculpture.org.uk/information/.

Conceived 18 years ago, the Foundation is a philanthropic project, which helps to ensure that British Sculpture continues to build upon its successful history by creating and displaying ambitious new works by contemporary British sculptors.

The Foundation has an ever-changing display of 80 new monumental contemporary sculptures on its grounds in West Sussex, England, displayed over 26 acres. The sculptures on display are sold throughout the world, with proceeds directly going to artists.

Together, the grounds and the archive provide an overview of British Sculpture in the 21st century.

Further trips for the students are planned for the coming months, including to the Venice Bienalle, Istanbul, and archaeological sites in the south of England.
