Students Studying Modern China Attend a Conference on the Beijing Olympics

Dr. Wolfgang Deckers took students from his Modern China course to a conference on Documenting the Beijing Olympics at the School for Oriental and African Studies at the University of London this week.

The conference brought together academics, film-makers and writers from the all over the world to have the one of the most immediate discussions of the 2008 Olympics. Alongside the immediate, the conference located the Beijing Games within Olympic history and explored the challenges that lie ahead for the movement before the Games move to London in 2012.

SOAS is the world's leading centre for the study of a highly diverse range of subjects concerned with Asia, Africa and the Middle East and a popular graduate school for Richmond graduates with a handful in attendance this academic year.
