Richmond Trustee Appointed US Commissioner in UK
Joseph E. Connolly, a member of the Richmond Board of Trustees, has recently received a presidential appointment as the new United States Commissioner for the Bilateral Commission of US and UK Fulbrights. The appointment was announced by Robert Tuttle, the American Ambassador to the Court of Saint James (London).
Fulbright Scholarships are those given to outstanding students from both sides of the Atlantic in order for them to pursue an educational exchange in either the US or UK. The scholarships are named after Democratic Senator, J William Fulbright of Arkansas, and were established after World War II.
Along with his new position and his role as Richmond Trustee, Connolly is the Willard Brown Distinguished Professor of Management at the American University in Cairo. He is also a consultant to his former banking firm, UBS. He maintains homes in London, Paris, New York, and Cairo.
