Brendan Pastor

On 4 August, American student Brendan Pastor served as a panelist on BBC Radio 5 Live to talk about the West's perceptions of China's rise in the run-up to the 2008 Beijing Olympics. His co-panelists were a British graduate student from the London School of Economics, and a Chinese graduate from the University of Greenwich. Each panelist spoke for his respective country in a short discussion on why the West is often hostile towards China's increasing power, and whether the Olympics are facilitating changes within the country.

Brendan is a Junior at Richmond, the American International University in London, and is majoring in International Relations. He was recently in China as part of a study group examining the diplomacy and interaction between the U.S. and Chinese governments.
