Richmond Leadership Makes Official Visit to Vietnam

Richmond visiting with the Foreign Trade University in Hanoi, Vietnam

September marked a historic first visit to Hanoi, Vietnam by President Newbould and Vice President Kopenski. The two Richmond administrators were the guests of HE. Mr. Tran Quang Hoan Ambassador of Vietnam to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and fellow diplomat and wife Mrs. Tran Quang Hoan.

The visit included meetings with officials at the International School of the Vietnam National University Hanoi, The Foreign National University of Vietnam, several highly ranked secondary schools including the United Nations International School and a visit to the Ministry of Education where the Richmond team met the Minister and Deputy Minister of Education. In addition, visits with the British Ambassador to Vietnam, a reception with the British Council, Hanoi and several private meetings rounded off a very busy week.

The purpose of the trip was to explore opportunities in Vietnam which will lead to Vietnamese students having access to an international education at Richmond. In addition, there were discussions and relationships forged which will make it possible for Richmond students and faculty to experience education opportunities in Vietnam along with the potential for Richmond programs to be offered in Vietnam to qualifying students.
