Richmond IR MA confirms speakers and visit for Fall Semester
29/03/2010
Five months before the first students arrive Richmond's Masters Degree in International Relations has begun to line up a series of speakers and visits for the fall semester. The program director, Dr. James D. Boys, announced today that Dr. Lutz-Peter Berg, Science & Technology Attaché to the Swiss embassy in London, will be the first in a long line of experts to address the MA student body as part of a Seminar Series to run on Tuesday evenings. These seminars will complement the work done in classroom sessions and provide direct access to policy makers and experts.
In addition, Dr. Boys also announced that the Swiss embassy has agreed to host the MA student body at a reception on September 24. This follows a series of meetings and discussions between Dr. Boys and the embassy, designed to establish a basis for mutual cooperation. The visit will address the unique status of Switzerland and its interactions with other nations.
These announcements come as Dr. Boys returns from Brussels where he commenced negotiations with NATO for an extensive visit for the MA group, details of which will be announced in the coming months.
This approach, of adopting a hands-on approach to education by bringing the students into contact with both organisations and individuals, is very much at the heart of the new MA program that commences this September.
