Byron Randall Fisher, a Richmond Postgraduate Student in the Master of Arts in International Relations Programme, has recently completed Week Eight of his Parliamentary Internship with the House of Commons. He serves as an intern in the Parliamentary Office of John Penrose MP, the Member of Parliament for the Weston-super-Mare Constituency and Her Majesty's Minister for Tourism & Heritage. Byron’s experiences, during his parliamentary internship thus far, have been both extraordinary and diverse.

This past week, British Prime Minister David Cameron signed a bottle of Scotch whisky for Byron, in recognition of Byron’s status as an Iraq War Veteran. Also, he was afforded the opportunity to tour the Residence of the United Kingdom's Prime Minister at No. 10 Downing Street. Furthemore, Byron has attended numerous debates throughout his internship, both in the House of Commons and in the House of Lords. He received an invitation to attend the Official Opening of the 57th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference by HRH The Princess Royal on July 25th, 2011.

We look forward to hearing more from Byron R. Fisher as he approaches the final phase of his parliamentary internship.
