Richmond Graduate Student Accepted to Harvard University

Laura Connor
MA 2007
Richmond MA Art History student Laura Connor was recently admitted to the PhD program in the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Harvard University. Building on her MA thesis examining the appropriation of Francisco Goya’s art by ‘YBA’ artists Jake and Dinos Chapman, Laura’s advanced graduate work will focus largely on nineteenth- and twentieth-century Spanish literature, with a particular focus on the interfaces between literature and the visual arts. More specifically, she plans to write her PhD on the influence of Francisco Goya’s imagery on the literary aesthetic of Spanish playwright Ramón del Valle-Inclán. The six-year, fully funded program at Harvard will prepare Laura for an academic career.
