Richmond Diplomatic Society to host Ghanaian Ambassador
31/03/2011
Richmond University is proud to announce the latest in a series of talks by leading members of the diplomatic corps in London. The Richmond Diplomatic Society will be hosting His Excellency, Professor Kwaku Dnaso-Boafo, the Ghanaian Ambassador to the Court of St. James on Friday, April 1.
The talk follows hot on the heels of a series of similar events that have seen a steady flow of diplomats making their way to both the Richmond and Kensington campuses over the past academic year.
Organised by the Richmond Diplomatic Society and its faculty advisor, Director of the Postgraduate Programme in International Relations, Associate Professor James D. Boys, these events are designed to break down the wall between academia and the diplomatic corps, for both undergraduates and postgraduate students.
The joint venture between Dr. Boys and the RDS is also a deliberate effort to bridge the gap between the undergraduate and postgraduate offerings at Richmond and to help foster greater ties to the diplomatic community in London.
Talking about the event to be held at 4.30 on Friday, Dr. Boys stated, "This is the latest in a series of exciting events that have been arranged to place students in front of decision makers drawn from around the world. The goal is to reinforce the idea that diplomacy and public service is a noble profession and that the quest for peace between peoples and nations is an on-going struggle that requires the very best of all of us. I commend the sterling work that the Richmond Diplomatic Society is engaged in. Its team of young and dedicated students, led by its President Saed Sarsur, are the very embodiment of the Richmond creed of unity in diversity. They are a credit to the university and to their individual nations, which I am certain they will return to in leadership roles in the years ahead.”
