07/04/2011
The President of the Richmond Diplomatic Society, Saed Sarsur, was invited to Parliament recently for talks on the subject of an African Free Trade area. Attending the talks were, Lord Stephen Green, UK Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Mr John Battersby, Senior Manager at International Marketing Council of South Africa, Mr Ebele Edwin Ogbue, CEO of UBA Capital Europe and the Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP.
Mr Sarsur commented, “A few days ago we hosted an 'Africa Today' event at Richmond campus where the guests of honour were the Ghanaian High Commissioner, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, and Sir Cyril Taylor, Chancellor of Richmond University. Prior to this event, we also hosted a discussion group on the same topic with the Ambassador of Southern Sudan. We hope to progress these discussions further over the next few weeks by welcoming a senior director of the World Bank to talk about economic development in Africa.”
