Richmond Beer Brewing and Appreciation Society Visits the Battersea Beer Fest

On February the 13th, the Richmond Beer Brewing and Appreciation Society attended the last night of the three day 19th Battersea Beer Festival. Over the course of the Festival, 160 British ales and many cask and bottled foreign beers were served. Members were able to try inexpensive half pints of some very characteristic award-winning beers from around the country and some excellent import beers as well. In an aim to appease non-beer drinkers, there were ciders, parries and even some unusual wines including elderflower, strawberry and honey wines.
The festival is one of many around the country that are sponsored by CAMRA, (CAMPAIGN for Real Ale) an organization that supports microbrewers and promotes the appreciation of locally produced ales over multi-national breweries like Stella Artois and Carling.
Make sure to keep an eye on the campus calendar for more festivals around the area.
