Richmond Assists with Rescue Effort in Christchurch, NZ
28/02/2011

Student Affairs, the Study Abroad office and the Richmond History Department have helped to raise over £190 for the British Red Cross to help with rescue and rebuilding efforts in Christchurch, New Zealand, following the recent devastating earthquake.
Richmond has a long history of working with the New Zealand government and educational bodies. The University’s Florence campus hosted the biggest ever New Zealand conference outside of the South Pacific in 2008 (entitled “New Zealand and the Mediterranean”). The former Centre for New Zealand Studies hosted a number of the University’s interns, who ended up helping to organize international film festivals in Poland as well as assisting with the Centre’s conferences in Italy. Regular members of the New Zealand and South Pacific community continue to give guest lectures on Maori and Polynesian culture and identity for both the History department and the MA in Art history.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with those affected.
