Richmond alumna awarded JCMS Best Article Prize 2009

Dr Raya Kardasheva
Dr Raya Kardasheva, a former student at Richmond and now a Lecturer at King's College London, was recently awarded the Best Article Prize 2009 for her publication, ‘The Power to Delay: The European Parliament's Influence in the Consultation Procedure’ which appeared in the JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies.
Raya graduated from Richmond, the American International University in London in 2003 with a BA in International Relations. She later obtained an MSc in European Politics and Governance from the London School of Economics (LSE) and also a PhD in European Studies from the same establishment.
Raya taught for a period at LSE and University College London and in October 2010, accepted a post at King's College London where she is currently Lecturer in European Studies.
The JCMS: Journal of Common Market Studies is the leading journal in its field, publishing a range of high quality articles on the latest European integration issues with particular emphasis on developments within the European Union(EU).
