RIASA impressive against Bradford City

30/08/2011

The RIASA squad took on Bradford City Reserves on Sunday 28th August at Valley Parade in a exhibition game. The game was arranged as Bradford City needed to look at five players on trial including some who have had major league experiences including time at clubs such as West Ham and Huddersfied.

Although the eventual score was 5-3 for Bradford RIASA held their own for large parts of the game and surprised the Bradford City staff at how well they could compete and play.

According to RIASA coach Lee Clapham, “ all in all there were some positive performances throughout the game from the whole squad and they should be pleased with their efforts. I’m sure they learned a great deal”.

Mark Ellis, RIASA Director of Football added, “This was our first showcase game and we played a team at a higher level than a normal professional youth academy team. It was a great learning experience and John Hendrie and myself were watching how our RIASA developmental academy handled playing against more experienced seasoned players. It was very encouraging and some of the RIASA boys have a bright future if they keep working hard at the game, both on and off the field. I was very happy overall with the performance"
