ANNUAL ALUMNI CAREER PANEL PART OF CAREERS MONTH AT RICHMOND

As part of Careers month on campus, eleven alumni from 1995 to 2005 came to campus to participate in the annual Alumni Career Panel on the evening of 7 February, 2008.

Alumni volunteered to participate in response to an e-mail from the alumni Relations Office. Among the careers represented were alumni in law, finance, dance therapy, TV news, banking, marketing. The descriptions by the alumni of their individual experiences and approaches to developing their careers gave the more than twenty-five students attending an opportunity to weigh their own skills and priorities as they plan for the next step after graduating from Richmond. Many alumni commented afterwards that they had found each other’s experiences so interesting and their careers and approaches so varied, that they too gained a lot from the evening.

Graduate and undergraduate students who attended came from all majors, and were able to ask questions during the panel discussion. However, the opportunity to network over wine and cheese after the panel, provided more and individual opportunities to make connections with alumni.

This Alumni Panel was one of many event planned by Sandra Beyer, Assistant Dean, Career Services, to highlight preparation for life after Richmond. For the complete list of Career Events for spring 2008 go to Careers Services Spring Events
