Professor Cohen advises on ESRC funded project
02/09/2011
During the course of summer 2011, Professor Michèle Cohen was invited to act as historical adviser on a two-year fellowship funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC). The fellowship had been awarded to Professor Gemma Moss, Director of the Centre for Critical Education Policy Studies at the Institute of Education, University of London.
Professor Cohen’s contribution focused on nineteenth-century education. In addition, it was her knowledge of eighteenth-century education that played an important role in setting parameters of interpretation for understanding the curriculum and definitions of literacy in the nineteenth century.
Professor Cohen will continue to be involved in the project until its completion in 2013.
