Prof. Alex Seago and Dr. James Boys at the Salzburg Seminar American Studies Association symposium

From 6-10 October Prof. Alex Seago, Chair of the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Communications and Dr. James D. Boys, Director of the MA in International Relations attended the Salzburg Seminar American Studies Association symposium on Continuity and Change in US Foreign Policy. The symposium focused on comparative developments, continuity and changes in the international role and policies of the United States, with a special emphasis on the Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations. As one of the symposiums’ a five keynote speakers Dr. Boys gave a very well received presentation on his current research into U.S. policy on terrorism by non-state actors. Prof. Seago is the UK representative of the Salzburg Seminar American Studies Alumni Association.

Prof. Seago and Dr. Boys were joined in Salzburg by leading academics in the field of American Studies and by diplomatic specialists from around the world - including Ambassador Harriet Elam-Thomas, Former Ambassador of the USA to the Republic of Senegal and the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Richmond in 2001.
