President Annette presents paper at Chicago conference

Professor John Annette, President
The President, Professor John Annette, was honored to present a paper on, Global Citizenship and Service Learning at the 2011 International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement (IARSLCE) annual conference which took place in Chicago, USA from 2nd to 4th November, 2011.
The theme of the 11th annual conference was Research for Impact: Scholarship Advancing Social Change with discussions centering on service-learning as an important teaching and learning strategy around the globe, and community engagement which places students in activities that primarily focus on the service being provided to the non-profit community partner. Professor Annetteās paper examined the growth of international service-learning programs in higher education and critically analyzed their claims to promote global citizenship.
In tandem with the conference, Professor Annette was invited to join the editorial board of the new online journal, Digital and Media Literacy and Civic Engagement. The main areas of interest of this journal are the merging fields of digital and media literacy (the ability to access, share, analyze and create digital information) and civic engagement (how individuals and organizations work to improve civic life in various communities).
Professor Annette was also re-elected to the Executive of the, British Society for Educational Studies for a term of three years and will continue to serve on the editorial board of its journal, The British Journal of Educational Studies.
