News Update: Richmond University – Mumbai Office
03/12/2008

Mumbai, India
The terror attacks that took place in Mumbai on the night of the 26th of November, 2008; left the business and financial capital of India staggering, with the loss of over 195 lives and more than 200 injured. The attack took place mostly in the southern part of the city which is the hub of the financial district and houses the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The Mumbai Office of Richmond University is located at Nariman Point, about a block away from the Oberoi Hotel where the shootouts took place. We are glad that we were safe and away from the area at the time of the brutal attacks. The office remains unaffected and fully functional. However, we will temporarily work from outside Mumbai until the New Year. All other public and private sectors have more or less returned to normal with only a few institutions such as International Schools and Consulates remaining closed to public until further notice.
We know that several of our colleagues from universities in the UK were in Mumbai attending the British Council Education UK fair at the time of the terror attacks. We hope that they are safe and have managed to reach home. The rest of the country remains still as people grieve over the loss of friends and family who died in the shoot outs.
We will continue to keep in touch with students and their families and I can be contacted at all times through e-mail, telephone or fax.
