MA students visit the Book Art Collection at the National Art Library
On Monday 17 September the MA students visited the National Art Library at the Victoria and Albert Museum to see items from its Book Art collection.
The visit was organised by Deborah Schultz, Adjunct Assistant Professor at Richmond, who has a special interest in the medium. The group saw a range of items from early seminal books from the 1960s by Ed Ruscha and Dieter Roth, to contemporary works by Susan Kae Grant and Sjoerd Hofstra.
The visit offered the opportunity for hands on contact with the objects, an intimate experience very different from that in the gallery space.
