MA International Relations Director defies flight ban to address American conference

21/04/2010

Dr. James D. Boys
Director
International Relations Posgraduate Program

Not one to let a little thing like a ban on all European air travel stand in his way, the Director of the Masters Degree in International Relations program, Dr. James D. Boys, addressed delegates at an international conference in Minnesota last night.

Having originally been scheduled to speak at Macalester College in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Dr. Boys delivered his paper on the reaction of the Clinton Administration to the Rwandan genocide of 1994 by video-link.

In a paper entitled, “Tutsi genocide and the US Policy: The Origins of Genocide Denial and the Promise of Future Genocide Prevention," Dr. Boys considered the reaction of the American government, the rationale for its decisions and shed light upon why such in-action is likely in the future.

Following the reaction to his paper, Dr. Boys will be rescheduling meetings with academics and students in the Twin Cities region to discuss the new MA in IR and the potential for joint ventures in this area.
