Last Month: Eighth Biannual Research at Richmond (R@R) Conference

07/04/2011

On Thursday March 31st, the main campus at Richmond hosted the eighth biannual Research at Richmond (R@R) conference. Organised by the Research and Scholarship Committee, this multidisciplinary conference provides faculty with an opportunity to share their current research with colleagues from across the spectrum of disciplines. A lively crowd enjoyed wide-ranging refreshments while listening to the following papers:

Dominic Alessio: Examined the concept of Monopoly Imperialism, and considered the origins of empires, not only via conquest, but also via purchase and leasing.

Martin Brown: Took a look at the futurists’ views of a prospective World War III, based on techno-thrillers, détente and the military balance during the Second Cold War.

Preslava Stoeva: Looked at the future of health care, by considering which method would be more appropriate: governance of health, or management of disease.

Alex Seago: examined the role of time and place in the development of modern music.

Papers will be solicited during September for the ninth R@R which will take place on the Kensington campus during the second half of the Fall semester.

The Research and Scholarship Committee consists of Robert Wallis (chairman), Martin Brown, Ivan Cohen, David Munyinyi and Rafael Soborski.
