In Churchill’s Footsteps!
As part of his continuing research into the life of Sir Winston Churchill, Richmond’s Assistant Professor of International Political Studies, Dr. James D. Boys, recently paid visits to the great man’s birthplace, residence and place of work. In preparation for a potential course on leadership at Richmond Dr. Boys visited Blenheim Palace, where Churchill was born, Chartwell, his country residence, and the Cabinet War Rooms under Whitehall, from where Churchill ran the victorious war effort.
“If one is to gain a complete understanding of the individual, it behoofs us to gain an insight into their surroundings and environments,” Dr. Boys remarked. "In an age devoid of heroics, the life of Churchill should be read for both pleasure and learning and it is an undertaking that will only enhance the life of the student."
Plans are afoot to offer students the opportunities to follow in Dr. Boys’ footsteps and visit these three sites, hopefully in the Spring Semester. Those with an interest in such a trip and in all things Churchillian should contact Dr. Boys to discuss the developing situation.
