IASA Scoring Freely in League Play: Move second in League table.
12/09/2010
In the last two games, UK Richmond, (IASA team) has scored 14 goals with Nahki Wells scoring 9 – five in one and four this past weekend. While IASA has been scoring feely they have also been conceding – with six goals conceded in two matches – and in one match Karl Martens having to face three penalties, saving two.
“Obviously the IASA players are gifted going forward but have a lot to learn defensively in the game commented Mark Ellis, Director of Football at IASA.
Mark went onto say, "The last two weekends has shown what the players are capable of – training sessions have been focused and intense but some of the players don’t transfer into games what we have shown them in training – also they need to mentally be tougher in game situations – it is evident there is lots of talent but they also need to know that the game demands a focus and determination for a complete player – we are working on that”.
During the week Dia Jones the England U 21 Coach and scout worked with the players and also coached them in a game against Leeds. Dia reports indicated that a draw with a very strong Leeds team was a fair result with UK Richmond controlling large parts of the play with their passing and movement- which has been a focus in training. Dia commented, “Tyson Newell scored a very well worked goal but the IASA players took their foot off the gas and allowed Leeds back into the game”.
The England U 21 coach went on to say, “It was only very good goalkeeping by Karl Martens that kept Leeds at bay in the final stages of the game. Dia concluded by saying, “to fulfill their potential the players have to improve both their physical and mental approach as they allowed their opponents back into the game, There are many encouraging signs of early progress being made by the players, a good foundation that can be built on in both training and future matches”.
UK Richmond has moved to second place in their league after the last two weeks results. Pictures of games will be posted on the IASA facebook page as well as the IASA web page under the gallery section.
