22/09/2010

The first of several IASA showcase games will be played next Tuesday Sept 28th at Championship  Hull City FC. Mark Ellis is preparing his sqaud with Dia Jones the England Under 21 scout and coach to play what he sees as the best level and biggest test of the IASA squad to date.

Mark Ellis stated that is was important in the first few weeks of the program to get a good idea on what the players can do and who can handle the test both technically, tactically and mentally. He commmented, "This will be a major test of those who think they have ability to play at another level. Players in this academy were playing last year for a Preimership outfit. I'm looking forward to seeing who can step up. Mark went on to say, "It will be a good development opportunity for the IASA players and I'm sure they will learn a lot".

Mark indicated that two more showcse are in the pipleine soon after - he is speaking to the academy directors at Leeds United (Leeds is home to the IASA program) and Blackburn. "The major focus for IASA players is the opportunity for developmet and these showcase games will be a measure of the progress players are making", Mark said.

In other news, IASA GK, Karl Martens has been loaned out to Gusiley FC in the Conference North League - Karl is presently worked his way into the Guisely sqaud on the recomendation of the IASA GK coach. Karl will be part of the squad this coming weekend that will be playing in the FA Cup, at Colywn Bay, Wales. We wish him luck.
