Dr. Michèle Cohen Gives Keynote Address at a Conference in Québec

Dr. Michèle Cohen, a Professor of Humanities at Richmond University, has been invited to give a keynote address at the “Art of Exchange: Models, Forms, and Practices of Sociability between Great Britain and France in the Eighteenth Century/L'art de l'échange : modèles, formes et pratiques de la sociabilité entre la France et la Grande-Bretagne au XVIIIe sièclem” conference to be held at the Université Laval, Québec on September 22 – 24.

The conference will focus on Anglo-French sociability in the eighteenth century. It will explore topics on gender, literature, education, and the role sociability played in France and Great Britain during the Renaissance and Romanticism. Speakers from worldwide universities, among whom Richmond’s Dr. Cohen, will address the guests at the event.

Dr. Cohen has lived in both France and England, and has a genuine passion for history. She is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and has done extensive research on gender, education, and language in eighteenth-century England. Dr. Cohen will be giving a speech on familiar conversation and education in the eighteenth century.
