Dr Martin D. Brown presents at the international symposium ‘The Ties That Bind’

On Friday 10 September 2010, Dr Martin D. Brown gave a paper entitled ‘A Question of Recognition: British relations with the Czech and Slovak Émigrés in the UK, 1939-42’, at the international symposium ‘The Ties That Bind’, held in the auditorium of the Slovak Embassy in London. The symposium was organised by the Czech Embassy in London, in cooperation with the University College London and the Embassies of Poland and Slovakia.
The Ambassadors of all three countries attended the symposium, as did the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic, Alexandr Vondra. Other attendees included Professor Richard Overy and former American Secretary of State, Dr Madeleine Albright, who gave a keynote speech.
