Born and raised in the UK (Norwich), Maggie graduated with a BA in Hospitality Management and a Marketing Diploma in 1992. After graduating she decided that there was a whole world out there to explore and and took off to work in Switzerland. What started as a 6 month spell turned into an amazing 7 year period travelling and working overseas. Her travels took her to Europe, Asia, USA, Australia and New Zealand. Maggie had the opportunity to see some wonderful places, meet some great people and have many memorable experiences.
During this period overseas Maggie spent time working within the travel industry, held a variety of management positions within the hospitality sector and taught English in Hong Kong for a year. When she returned to the UK in 1999 Maggie initially worked for a housing association as an Assistant Manager in one of its schemes, where she was involved in the administration of housing policies and tenant participation before joining the University of London in 2000. There Maggie was based at Nutford House, an Intercollegiate Student Hall of Residence as Deputy Bursar. Maggie assisted in dealing with student enquiries, student and financial records, personnel and payroll issues, managing conference business and health and safety procedures. In 2005 she undertook the position of Acting Bursar, where she was responsible for all aspects of the operation of the hall, including dealing with student matters, the setting and control of the Hall budget, planning for routine and long term maintenance, provisions of catering and housekeeping services and recruitment and supervision of Hall staff. Most recently due to her love for travel Maggie left the University and embarked on a 6 month trip to South America, discovering the Inca history, exploring the jungle and living the Rio Carnival.
Her personal interests are wide and varied. Maggie has been involved in voluntary work with organisations such as Crisis, a homeless charity, and a local council mentoring scheme. She has also undertaken a number of evening classes in subjects ranging from International Relations to Interpersonal Communication Skills to Salsa dancing. Maggie is delighted to be joining Richmond, The American International University in London where she will be working in the Student Affairs Team at the Kensington Campus. Maggie is looking forward to being actively involved in enhancing Richmond, working together to create a safe, educational and fun environment, so students can gain the most out of their time whilst studying and living in London.
