Student Affairs Welcomes Sandra Beyer as the New Assistant Dean, Career Services

Sandra Beyer, at Spring Fest 2007
Student Affairs is pleased to announce that we have appointed Sandra Beyer as Assistant Dean, Careers Service. Sandra will take office on 22nd October and will predominantly be based at the Kensington campus, although will be available to all Richmond students. Sandra has been an outstanding member of the Student Affairs team at Richmond and will now be taking the lead in developing and implementing a comprehensive careers service for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Sandra is originally from Germany and has been living in London since 2003. Before that she lived in the US and Spain. Sandra went to the University of Tübingen in Germany before transferring to and completing a BA in English Literature & Spanish Studies at Kingston University. She also has an MA in Applied Linguistics from Birkbeck College, University of London and a Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) from Kingston University. As part of her studies at Tübingen Sandra spent an exchange year at San Francisco State University.
Before coming to Richmond, Sandra worked as a teacher of ‘German as a Foreign Language’, both at University and Secondary School level. She loves working with people from different cultures and linguistic backgrounds, so working at an international university was an obvious choice for her! Sandra feels that her own experiences in living, studying and working abroad have helped her in many ways in empathizing with the problems and issues international students face. These cover everything from experiencing culture shock to having problems opening a bank account, from feeling homesick to being anxious about life after graduation.
