Alumnus Panelist In Conference “Forum And Exhibition Of International Entrepreneurship”

Vijay Tirathrai
Vijay Tirathrai , 1988, has been honored once again for his business success. In July 2003 Vijay Tirathrai, took the reigns as 2003-2004 Young Entrepreneurs’ Organization (YEO) International President, marking the first time that a member outside of North America has run the organization. Born and raised in Kuala Lumpur, Tirathrai briefly lived in Singapore and the United Kingdom, when he was a student at Richmond where he majored in Business Administration. Tirathrai has been a YEO member since 1996.
He founded the Malaysia Chapter of YEO, chaired two regional conferences, acted as director of the Asia Pacific Region, and started YEO chapters throughout Asia and Europe. Vijay owns and manages Globe Silk Store, a chain of retail department stores in Malaysia. Other entrepreneurial pursuits have included manufacturing and worldwide distribution of cycle helmets. He currently resides in Malaysia with his wife and two sons.
Vijay Kishenchand Tirathrai, Class of 1988, Vijay was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year 2004, GOPIO (Global Organization Person of Indian Origin). He has been involved in start ups of several industries including manufacturing, toys, real estate development.
YEO is a global non-profit educational organization for today’s leading business owners. Its sister organization, the World Entrepreneurs’ Organization, also exists to help its members build upon their successes through opportunities of management training and networking.
Vijay has been active in other leadership positions in YEO, including chapter president, director of global membership, organizing chair of Asia Pacific Conference in Kuala Lumpur and the first European Gathering in Amsterdam. He led several initial chapter start-ups in Asia and Europe.
In May 2005 he served as one of five people on a panel in an international conference “Forum and Exhibition of International Entrepreneurship held in Dubai, UAE. The five member panel was moderated by Abbas Ali Mirza, Partner Deloitte, UAE and the topic they discussed was “Empowering Youth Entrepreneurship”. The conference included among the presenters international entrepreneurs as Stelios Haji-Ioannou, easyGroup (UK) Ltd, Donald Trump, The Trump Organization, Debbie Fields, Mrs. Fields’ Cookies, John Edwards, former US Senator and Democratic Vice-Presidential candidate, Dame Anita Roddick, The Body Shop.
