Mrs Elizabeth Long
Assistant Professor of English for Academic Purposes and Co-ordinator, Foundations Program
Elizabeth has an MA in Classics from Oxford University which instilled her interest in language, both ancient and modern. Her earlier career was in banking and marketing which she gave up in order to raise her family of four daughters. She then gained her CELTA and DELTA qualifications to teach English as a foreign language which she used to teach students of all ages and nationalities, both in the language school environment and at other local Universities.
She joined Richmond University in January 2003, and has taught on the Academic English program, the Foundations program and in Principles of Academic Writing.
In addition she teaches Latin to Primary School children who would not otherwise be offered it in their curriculum and is a school governor of a local Richmond Primary School. She writes reports on local schools for The Good Schools Guide and sits on the Appeals panel for Richmond schools admissions.
