Mr Vishal Shah
Adjunct Assistant Professor
Vishal Shah is a London based artist who graduated in Fine Art Printmaking, from the Royal College of Art (2002). After graduating from the RCA, he taught Fine Art at the college and now teaches 'Compositions in Interactive Media' and 'Web Design' here at Richmond the American International University in London. Vishal is also a visiting lecturer / artist in several academic institutions in the United Kingdom including the Royal Academy of Arts as a time based practitioner.
Vishal has worked on number of notable projects, one of his signature pieces was the front cover design of author Jason Shelley's previous publication, 'Grey Love' and lately, Vishal art directed, book design and illustrated the new hardback title 'The Romance' for the publishing company Tlön books. Both titles are stocked in bookshops nationwide, there are also a series of limited edition prints from ‘The Romance’ title that the artist has editioned.
The artist screened his most recent film ‘Seek Assistance’ in the International Media Festival, Yerevan, Armenia (Aug 2005), curated by Eva Khachatrian. International Kunst Film Biennale (Oct 2005), Museum Ludwig, Köln, Germany. More recently, his film was shown at the AV Festival 06 - LifeLike (Mar 2006) in the film shorts programme, which toured Newcastle Gateshead, Sunderland and Middlesbrough, curated by Tom Bland and directed by Honor Harger.
Vishal exhibited in ‘technique’ (2004) which was the first ever exhibition of artwork by practitioners and technicians working at the Royal College of Art. ‘technique’ was an insight into the notion that the artists involved formed the basis of creative knowledge and skills within the College.
The artist has exhibited further work throughout London including ‘Escalator’ (2003) in the ‘Film - Other India’s’ screening at Whitechapel Art Gallery.
