Profile
Philip is a Master Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat (BASSC), a Fight Examiner with the BASSC, with the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy (IDCA) and with Stage Combat Deutschland. He teaches Physical Skills at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), and stage combat at Drama Studio London and the British American Drama Academy (BADA). He has taught at many international workshops in America and Europe, and has lectured at Shakespeare’s Globe, the Wallace Collection and the Tower of London.

As a fight director, he is a member of Equity’s Register of Fight Directors – the highest possible qualification for a fight director in the UK. With more than a hundred professional credits, he has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera House, the English National Opera, Shakespeare’s Globe, Teatro Campoamor (Spain), the Vaudeville Theatre, the Aldwych Theatre, Trafalgar Studios, the Royal Court Theatre, the Theatre Royal Haymarket, Vienna’s English Theatre, The Dukes Theatre (Lancaster), Creation Theatre (Colchester), Creation Theatre Co. (Oxford), New Vic Theatre (Stoke-on-Trent), the Print Room, Guildford Shakespeare Co. the Menier Chocolate Factory, Hampstead Theatre, Salisbury Playhouse, York Theatre Royal, the Orange Tree Theatre, Watford Palace Theatre, New Wolsey Theatre (Ipswich), the Apollo Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse (Leeds), the Bolton Octagon, the Watermill Theatre, the Royal & Derngate Theatre (Northampton), Sadlers Wells Theatre, the Drum Theatre (Plymouth), the Tricycle Theatre, the Brighton Dome, Channel Theatre Co. Belinda Knight Productions, Epsilon Productions, Holland Park Opera, Oxford Shakespeare Productions, the Reduced Shakespeare Co. the Queen’s Theatre (Hornchurch) and the Hexagon Theatre (Reading).

He has choreographed fights for two Channel 4 documentaries about acting, one BBC4 documentary on the RSC, two feature films, Warhouse, and The Basement, and many short films.

He has worked professionally in theatre all his life, as a stage manager, lighting designer, production manager, director, and fight director.
