Martin Jackson
Adjunct Instructor
Martin earned a BA in ‘English Literature with Creative Writing’ from the University of East Anglia (UEA) and completed an AHRB funded MA from Goldsmiths College in ‘Contemporary Approaches to English Studies’. After several years working for some of the world’s largest advertising agencies, he now splits his time between writing and teaching.
His is interested in how contemporary literary texts and writing practices can be explored and understood in relation to modern day city-living. This includes considering graffiti as a form of travel writing; looking at how acts of psychogeography and urban exploration shape processes of writing and/or reading; and examining the roles that cities play in shaping identity.
Martin's poetry has won several awards and been published in journals such as Agenda and word for word. His novel about street art in London’s east end received funding from the UK Arts Council and is represented by the Toby Eady Agency.
Martin is also a keen photographer and visual artist whose work has exhibited in London and been published in various journals and collections.
