Dr Sara Chetin
After completing her BA degree at the University of California at Berkeley, Dr. Chetin studied in Paris for 2 years, then eventually settled in London after travelling extensively. She enjoys the international mix of students at Richmond, many whose culturally mixed backgrounds and complex sense of 'home' mirror her own.
She completed her PhD at the University of Kent at Canterbury, and her academic specialisms include post-colonial literatures and gender. She has given papers in the UK, USA and France, and published articles and reviews in a number of European and American journals. She is currently exploring themes related to transcultural writing and the city, and doing her own creative writing.
Dr. Chetin oversees the capstone Senior Seminar course for the students in the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences and Communications. She teaches a variety of courses in literature, gender studies and also contributes to the seminars in the First Year Program. She is currently the Director of the First Year Program and Chair of Faculty.
