Dr Piola Massarotto
Dr Piola Massarotto studied art history at the University of Pavia, Italy, and was awarded her MA and PhD at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London. Her thesis was entitled ‘The Venetian Civic and Military Governors in Padua during the Sixteenth Century: Raison d’ État, Political Prestige and Public Promotion of the Arts’. Dr Massarotto has delivered a number of lectures on her research in recent years, including to the Institute of Historical Research, London; the University of St. Andrews, Scotland; and the International Congress on Medieval Studies, Kalamazoo, USA. She is currently working on a number of articles and her first book. Dr Massarotto teaches the core MA course ‘Art History Theories and Methods’.
