Dr John Chua

Associate Professor of Communications

John Chua teaches a variety of courses in communications. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Champaign–Urbana with a dissertation focused on the interpretations of horror across cultures. He spent many years working in the media industry before embarking on an academic career.

Director and producer of the documentary WHATEVER! IT’S A WONDERFUL SORORITY LIFE aired on PBS in America and chosen by the Museum of TV and Radio (Paley Media Center in Los Angeles and New York) for its permanent collection of important PBS films.
Director and producer of the documentary MARION’S TRIUMPH aired on public television in America and on the History Channel in Israel. Won Editor’s Choice Award from American Library Association’s Booklist.
Co-writer of STAR DOGS: BELKA AND STRELKA, an upcoming feature film in Russian to be released in cinemas in 2009. Creative Producer for the Russian TV documentary, THE BIRTH OF ILLUSION, 2008.
