Dr. Ali Aboutorabi is an adjunct assistant professor at Richmond University. He has more than 30 years experience in Higher Education from research to teaching and curriculum design. He obtained his BSc degree from Sharif University, his MSc from Manchester University and his PhD from Glasgow University where he worked on numerical calculation of failure risk of offshore platforms in the North Sea. During his post-doctoral research fellowship at Brunel University London he led an investigation into failure prediction of welded pipe structures for gas and water distribution systems. He is currently working on design characteristics of natural composite fibres for engineering applications including wind turbines for renewable energy. His teaching experience lies in the areas of pure and applied mathematics, statistical analysis, material characterisation, mathematical modelling of engineering structures and quality evaluation of organisations.
