Dr Paul Lloyd
Director of Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy
After graduating from Leeds University with a BA in Communication Arts and Public Media, I worked for several years as a manager within a number of departments within the National Health Service before retraining as a teacher in adult education, where I taught a range of social studies subjects. I gained an MA in Education from Southampton University and taught on adult and further education teacher training courses before becoming a course leader for several years, developing an interest in leadership development.
I have also worked with the youth department of a large national charity in the development and delivery of a youth leadership development programme and have been instrumental in the development of a network of regional trainers to continue the evolution of the initiative.
My interest in the development of leadership and my work in Higher Education led me to Chief Executive posts in charge of two large student unions where I was involved with the management of both welfare and business operations and a lead role in the transition of both organisations to registered charities. I continued my interest in leadership development through my work with the elected student union officers and this formed the basis of my doctoral research. My doctorate from Leeds University examined the training and development of student union leaders as they move through the transition to charitable trustees.
