How can I renew my student visa?

PLEASE NOTE: This page is designed to guide students who are already studying at Richmond and have already obtained their initial student visa

Depending on where your student visa was issued and how long you are taking to complete your course, you may need to renew your visa during your degree at Richmond. This should be a fairly straight-forward process if you have followed all rules and regulations regarding your visa conditions set by the UK Border Agency (UKBA).

The Department of Student Affairs keeps a record of the date when all students' visas expire, but it is your obligation to take steps to ensure you are in-status in the UK at all times. You should plan to take action about a month before the expiry date of your visa. You are able to apply either in person or via post, each application will have a specific fee attached to the service. Students are advised to be responsible and read through the UKBA's website for the latest in changes to this process and fee schedule. Please note that changes made after 28th April 2008 require all students (living in specifically designated post codes) extending their visas to complete a new section of the application which covers biometric immigration documents. Please read here to find out about extending your visa, and if you are affected by this change
