Life in the UK

We know that picking up and moving to the UK can be difficult! If you are feeling homesick and overwhelmed, the most challenging aspect of your arrival is often times just figuring out how to establish yourself here in the UK. Opening a bank account takes time and the procedure may be quite different than in your home country, or the NHS may be a completely new concept for you. Just moving around to different parts of London or the UK on public transport may also be a new experience for students who have never had the opportunity to take a train or bus before.

These pages are designed to give you an overview of how services such as the NHS and dental treatment, bank accounts, and transport work in the UK. You will also need to have a firm grasp on immigration and visas and your student insurance coverage, so make sure you have a good understanding of these areas too. We've also included some exciting bits like entertainment and London life! Once you have figured out transport, getting to these great places will be a breeze.
