Alpha Phi Alpha is a fraternity that was founded on December 4, 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Alpha Phi Alpha is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter organization established by African Americans, however draws it's membership from a multitude of various ethicities and backgrounds. The organization has initiated over 200,00 members since its inception over one hundred years ago. Some of the organizations notable members include Jamaican Prime Minister Norman Manley, Nobel Prize winner Martin Luther King, Jr., Olympian Jesse Owens, Justice Thurgood Marshall, United Nations Ambassador Andrew Young, Edward Brooks, W.E.B. Dubois, Lionel Richie, ESPN's Stuart Scott, and actor Hill Harper. The Fraternity's Aims are Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind. The Fraternity's "Beta Psi" chapter was chartered here in Richmond on April 23, 2011.
