Clubs and Societies

Student organizations, clubs, and societies are an integral part of the student activities program at Richmond. The primary purpose of clubs and societies is to allow students to organize themselves in a common interest or goal in order to learn from each other and educate the University community. This process allows students to do a number of things which include, but certainly are not limited to, the following:

  • Meet other students with similar interests
  • Enhance the development of the University community
  • Complement curricular programs in an informal setting
  • Develop interpersonal, leadership and creativity skills
  • Provide the University community with diverse and exciting programs and events

Active student participation is vital to the life and success of all student organizations. They are the key providers of social and extra-curricular activities on campus. Below you will find information about clubs, societies and student organizations that are currently active.

Club and Society Forms for 2011-2012

If you are interested in starting a club or society, or are an existing club or society, these are the forms you will need to complete and submit to the Office of Student Activities. If you have any questions about these, contact Jaclyn Hadjipieris at 020 8332 8227 or email her at hadjipj@richmond.ac.uk.

Can’t find a club or society you were hoping to join? Then start one yourself!

Registration forms are available on the University website. Requirements for completing registration include having a group of at least 5 members, 3 officers, a staff or faculty advisor and a completed charter/constitution.

For clubs and societies to be officially recognized by the University, they must complete the registration process. Registration grants clubs and societies access to University facilities such as the Common Room and classrooms in which they may meet and hold events. It also grants students eligibility for funding from the Student Activities office and the use of the University name. A new club or society must register no later than 30 days after the start of the semester.

Registration for existing clubs takes place at the beginning of the Fall semester. However, during the spring, all current leaders are asked to name the future leadership of their club or society. This is to ensure a smooth transition and to allow new leaders time to plan for the Fall Freshers Fair and to start thinking about activities for the next academic year.
