Volunteering
At Richmond University, we aim to promote the interaction between the institution and the wider community. Volunteering is not about ‘charity and giving’ but about working together for mutual benefit. In other words, volunteering is more than just giving a few hours of your time – it is about learning new skills from which you and the organizations will both benefit.

What Graduate Recruiters have to say about volunteering...
"The majority of students applying for graduate jobs won't have a great deal of work experience. By volunteering, they can demonstrate evidence of some of the skills employers are looking for. Furthermore, with increasing importance placed on Corporate Social Responsibility, it makes sense for applicants to match the employer's values by giving something back."
Rebecca Wainwright, KPMG
"Volunteering provides graduates with an invaluable set of skills and competencies which cannot be rivalled by other experiences, even in the commercial sector."
Hannah Slaney, Graduate Programme Manager, The Co-operative Group
"Local government recruiters look for interest in the community. So it helps if the applicant knows what's going on and is involved."
Ruth Ashworth, North West Employers Organisation
