Drop-In Appointments OR One-to-One Meetings with the Careers Adviser
Drop-in Appointments:
These are 15-minute appointments with the careers adviser to obtain feedback on a CV, covering letter or personal statement and to discuss brief career-related questions. You may raise issues that need further discussion and we'll be happy to book a careers guidance interview for you in that case.
One-to-One Meetings:
We offer career guidance interviews, which typically last between 30 and 45 minutes. This is your opportunity to talk about anything you need advice or guidance on. These sessions are one-to-one and confidential.
How to Book an Appointment and Prepare for Your Advisory Session
Visit the Student Affairs Office at either campus or email Allison Cole-Stutz. Careers interviews can be booked up to two weeks in advance and drop-in appointments can be made on the day if openings are available.
If you are coming for feedback on CVs, covering letters and applications, take a look at our useful booklets. They will help you construct a good CV, cover letter or application.
Let the Student Affairs Office have, either by email (colesta@richmond.ac.uk) or in paper form, a copy of the CV or other document where you'd like to receive feedback. If you are applying for a specific job or course, then the specific details of these positions are helpful as well. If you are working on a general CV, then carry out some research on your area of interest. The Explore Types of Jobs Section on the Prospects website may be useful for this.
If you want to talk about an interview or assessment that you may have coming up, bring along any documentation about the day(s) and look on the company website for any tips they may have on interviews or assessment centres. We will not take you through a mock interview, but we can talk you through typical interview questions, provide you with feedback and assist you with brainstorming the appropriate answers. We can also talk you through various types of interviews or typical assessment centre activities so that you know what to expect.
