MA Accomodation

Graduate student housing at Richmond is located in the Kensington area of West London. The campus is contained within 5 buildings, all within a 10-minute walk of each other. Kensington is a highly desirable residential area excellent for shopping and equipped with restaurants, parks and nightlife. It is also close to many other cultural centers in London such as the Albert Hall, Victoria & Albert Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, Natural History Museum and many more. Public transport is easily assessable and you can get anywhere from the nearby underground stations, trains or local buses. When you want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, you need only walk about five minutes to Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, one of London’s many large and beautiful parks. You will also be reassured to know that this area, compared to most big cities, is quite safe. People usually feel secure walking in this area or on public transport day and night.

Kensington Residences

Atlantic House is the main residence in Kensington and provides accommodation for 114 students, in 17 single rooms, 47 double rooms and 1 triple. All rooms have a sink, a safe, and there are shared shower facilities on each floor. The facilities in Atlantic House include 24-hour Security/Reception, Kensington Campus Library, Computer Lab, Dining Hall, free laundry room and Mailroom, and Common Room with Plasma TV, Video/ DVD, Sky which makes Atlantic House the centre for student activity in Kensington. Please note that Atlantic House is a non-smoking building. Smoking is forbidden in rooms, public areas and the front staircase. A new smoke alarm system has been fitted throughout the building to ensure adherence to this policy.

The Graduate Wing, as a separate corridor, has been designated for graduate housing offering seven single rooms. All rooms are fitted with new contemporary fitted furniture, sinks and university network ports. There are shared shower facilities. A tall fridge/freezer and a microwave are located at this wing for the residents of the graduate wing only.

Courtfield Gardens

If dormitory living does not fit your lifestyle, you may want to consider living in a studio flat at Richmond's newest satellite building, Courtfield Gardens. The building is located across Cromwell Road, just a 5 minute walk from the Earl's Court tube station.

Courtfield Gardens is the primary MA ARH residence and is home to almost 80 Richmond students, boasting self contained flats of 1 to 2 students with newly refurbished kitchens and bathrooms. Wireless internet, a common room with satellite TV, live-in staff and programming throughout the term and all a part of the package at Courtfield.

All our buildings are non-smoking.

To request housing, a student must complete a New Student Housing Application Form and pay a $500 non-refundable housing deposit that is returned, less any deductions, when the student vacates the room. The contracts are for 2 semesters, which allows the student to store their belongings in the room during the winter and Spring breaks. Occupation by the student is allowed during these times by prior agreement and on payment of an additional daily fee (for full details please contact the Housing team). Once a room has been allocated the student will have to pay for the room unless the University is able to re-sell the room to another student who is not allocated a University room and all rooms at both campuses are full.
