RBA - Karen Blakeman's Gateway to Statistical Data - A substantial and well-structured gateway to statistical data, maintained and regularly updated by Karen Blakeman of RBA.

Gary Price's List of Lists - A database of ranked listings of companies, people and resources freely available on the Internet. Content comes from a number of sources including: Specialissues.com, Gary Price's "ResourceShelf" and individual users of the LOL.

OFFSTATS: Official Statistics on the Web - Search by country, region or subject for official statistical sources from the UN, World Bank, OECD etc. This site is hosted by the University of Auckland Library, New Zealand.

Rankings

Encyclopedia Britannica World Data Analyst: ranked statistics - Ranked Statistics compile information for all countries and allow you to view the countries with the highest or lowest rates, totals, or percentages for selected statistical categories.

Aneki.com - A comprehensive source of continental and world rankings in an increasing number of categories. The data for the compilations is derived from numerous sources including United Nations agencies and the United States' Central Intelligence Agency's World Factbook.

GeographyIQ - The rankings page of this site ranks countries and territories by more than 50 geographic, demographic, economic and military criteria, as well as ranking on communications and transportation.

NationMaster.com - A ready-reference source bringing together information found in a wide range of documents. As well as the sites own lists of rankings (e.g. richest, porrest, most murderous, most educated, most athletic etc.), the database can be used to generate your own maps and charts, ranking countries by a number of criteria.

European Union

EuroStat - Eurostat is the Statistical Office of the European Communities and aims to provide the European Union with a high-quality statistical information service. Some of the material is freely available on the Internet, while other materials have to be purchased.

United Kingdom

UK Government Statistics - The official UK statistics site. Click on Statbase for the UK's official collection of statistical data on a wide range of social and economic subjects. There are many resources available from Statbase. Some of those listed here are versions of resources the Library subscribes to:

Census.ac.uk - Free online access to 1971-2001 UK census data. Registration is required and is only available to those carrying out academic work in UK Higher and Further Education.

Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion - For UK labour market, education and employment statistics.

ERSC Society Today - From the Economic & Social Research Council which funds research and training in social and economic issues. The section Facts and Figures is particularly useful.

Nomisweb - Free official labour market statistics.

United States

AmStat - The American Statistical Association (ASA) site carries a wealth of resources on statistical methodology and using and evaluating statistics rather than raw data.

CensusScope - Freely avaiulable US census data, from the Social Science Data Analysis Network (SSDAN). The site provides data on multiracial and population growth, or population by age, race, and family structure.

FedStats - Gateway to statistics from over 100 U.S. Federal agencies.

Committee on National Statistics - The committee itself does not gather statistical data but provides links to important US statistical sites.

Measuring America - Census data from 1790 to 2000 (in PDF format)

University of Michigan Gateway to Statistics Resources - Gateway to a wide range of US statistical sources.

International

GeoHive: Global Statistics - Offers geopolitical data, statistics on the human population, Earth and more.

IMF (International Monetary Fund) - The IMF maintains a database of national and international statistical data in a standardised format. Access is free, but you have to register before using the service.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development): Statistcs Portal - The OECD Statistics Portal classifies statistics by topic, offers a newsletter, a Statistics brief, frequently asked statistics, and provides an overview of statistical work at the OECD.

OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development): Statistcs by Topic - This site provides access to free OECD statistical material, organised by topic.

UN/ECE - Gateway to both national and international statistical sites.

World Bank - The World Bank's statistical data for individual countries and groups of countries are designed for easy comparison.

Public Opinion

European Commission: Public Opinion - The website for the Public Opinion Analysis sector of the European Commission. The surveys and studies address major topics concerning European citizenship: enlargement, social situation, health, culture, information technology, environment, the Euro, defence, etc.

Pew Global Attitudes Project - A series of worldwide public opinion surveys: more than 90,000 interviews in 50 countries have been conducted as part of the project.

World Public Opinion.org - Regionally organized information on world public opinion.

Internet

CyberAtlas - The Web marketer's guide to online facts. The site provides readers with "valuable statistics and Web marketing information, enabling them to understand their business environment and make more informed business decisions."

NUA - "The world's leading resource for Internet trends and statistics".
