Public Agenda: Issue Guides: Race - Public Agenda is a non-partisan opinion research organisation helping people understand contemporary issues. It offers a section on "Understanding the issue" along with "Public opinion" and links to additional resources.

Race, Ethnicity and Inequality - Links provided by Allyn and Bacon to articles on ethnic minorities, migration, affirmative action, anti-racism, discrimination, African-Americans, hate groups, and genocide.

Understanding Prejudice - More than 2,000 links to prejudice-related resources, as well as searchable databases with hundreds of prejudice researchers and social justice organizations. Includes sections on racism, anti-semitism and genocide.

Aborigines

Aboriginal Australia - Although mainly a commercial site offering Aboriginal products, there is a section on Culture dealing with the Aboriginal nations, bush medicine, spirituality, entertainment etc.

ATSIC: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission - ATSIC's site is an important international resource for information on Indigenous programs, activities and issues.

Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies - An independent Commonwealth Government statutory authority devoted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander studies.

Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation and Reconciliation Australia - This site contains all the documents and history of the Council for Aboriginal Reconciliation for the ten-year period of their existence to December 2000. The Council was superseded by Reconciliation Australia, an independent non-profit body which provides a national focus for the process of reconciliation between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the wider Australian community.

National Native Title Tribunal - Provides information and services about native title applications, future acts, and native title agreement-making. The Tribunal is not a court and does not decide whether or not native title exists.

Muslim Public Affairs Council - Described as "The progressive voice for American Muslims" this organization aims to effect positive change in public opinion and in policy with regard to the image and perceptions of Muslims and Islam, especially with regard to American Muslims.

Black History

Africans in America - Four parts series (1450-1750, 1750-1805, 1791-1831,1831-1865), presenting the history of Africans in America. Each part consists of an historical Narrative, a Resource Bank of images, documents, stories, biographies, and commentaries, and a Teacher's Guide for using the content of the Web site and television series in U.S. history courses. African American Resource Centre - Tulsa City County Library - Resources honoring and documenting the experiences of people of African descent, including the Tulsa race riot of May 1921.

African-American World - Site produced by PBS, with sections on history, arts and culture, race and society and biographical profiles.

Africana.com - Aims to bring together authoritative information about the whole world of Africa and her Diaspora. Offers news and analysis, reviews and personal essays from all around the world.

Black & Asian History Map - A gateway to websites about black and Asian history across the British Isles. You can search for sites by location (via the map), time period (via the timeline) or subject (via the search facility).

Black History Hotlist - Resources on black history in America, including slavery, the civil rights movement and the Million Man march. Also includes information on African-American leaders, and extracts from some of their works and speeches.

Encyclopedia Britannica guide to Black History - Lots of resources from this reputable encyclopedia, covering all aspects of black history. The Eras in Black History examines five centuries of black heritage through five distinct time periods, from the slave revolts of early America through the successes of the Civil Rights Movement. Each era is further divided by topic/profession, with biographies and photographs of notable people and descriptions and documents of historic events. The site also includes film clips and audio recordings. as well as hundreds of photographs and other images.

Misunderstanding Malcolm X - From BBC News, a site that looks at the life of Malcolm X and the impact his message has had on generations of black people.

Sonja Haynes Stone Center Library for Black Culture and History - Web guide to resources on black culture, black history, the African diaspora, Civil Rights Movement, slavery, literature, music and more.

Native-Americans

First Nations Compact Histories - A resource for a very brief history of many of the native-American tribes of the US and Canada.

National Congress of American Indians - Founded in 1944 the NCAI is the oldest and largest tribal government organization in the United States. Its mission is to inform the public and the federal government on tribal self-government, treaty rights, and a broad range of federal policy issues affecting tribal governments.
