British History Online - "British History Online is the digital library containing some of the core printed primary and secondary sources for the medieval and modern history of the British Isles". Created by the Institute of Historical Research and the History of Parliament Trust.

History of the Monarchy - Part of the official website of the British monarchy, this history is divided into Kings and Queens of England up to1603, Kings and Queens of Scotland up to 1603, and Kings and Queens of the United Kingdom from 1603, (1603 being the date when the English and Scottish crowns were united).

Histpop: Online Historical Populations Reports - The Online Historical Population Reports (OHPR) collection provides online access to the complete British population reports for Britain and Ireland from 1801 to 1937, giving an extraordinary picture of Britain’s changing population from 1800 up to the Second World War.

The National Archives (formerly the Public Record Office) - The National Archives is the national archive of England, Wales and the United Kingdom. It brings together and preserves the records of central government and the courts of law, and makes them available to all who wish to consult them. The records span an unbroken period from the 11th century to the present day.

Voice of the Shuttle - British history pages - Large collection of resources on British history including the monarchs and prime ministers. Then divided into time periods, and concluding with resources for the history of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The Victorian Web - Created by George P. Landow, Professor of English and Art History at Brown University, this site provides links to many aspects of Victorian art, literature and history: political, economic, social and technological, as well as links to items on science, religion and philosophy.

Great Britain Historical GIS Project - An historical Geographical Information System (GIS) for Great Britain covering the period from the late 1830s until the early 1970s. The GIS has two major components; accurate boundary data for the changing administaive areas of Britain linked to a major database of social, economic, and electoral statistics from throughout the period.

A vision of Britain - A vision of Britain between 1801 and 2001 including maps, statistical trends and historical descriptions. In includes census reports on Britain as a whole from 1801 to 1961, traveller's tales of Journeys around Britain from the 12th to the 19th centuries, and detailed maps of Britain from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Scotland:

In Search of Scotland - 'In Search of Scotland’ is a ten-part television series presented by Fiona Watson that questions the nature of Scottish national identity through an expansive and detailed historical investigation of the country’s history.

Ireland:

An Gorta Mór: the Great Hunger Archive - Collection of material about the great Irish famine.

The Great Hunger - Using primary sources from the Irish National Archives this site tells the story of the Irish potato famine and the consequent mass exodus from Ireland.

The Irish Diaspora - "Under the headings [on this site] are listed some general guides, bibliographies, works and websites which researchers may find useful. These listings are not intended to be comprehensive but to give some indication of the range and depth of material available on the Irish Diaspora at the British Library".
